Searching for comments

When you have a large number of comments, searching becomes important. As you can in the management panels for posts, pages, and links, you can type a search term in the search text box and click the Search Comments button. WordPress returns all comments that meet your search criteria (Figure 10.12).

You can also click the IP address listed with the comment to show tip only comments sent from the computer with that IP address. This feature is useful when you get several identical comments from a bunch of seemingly different people.

If you notice a large number of comments coming from the same IP address but being submitted under different names, one of two things could be going on:

• Someone is leaving comments under false names.

• Your blog is popular with residents of a single household who use the same router to connect to the Internet.

Either way, this is a good trick to figure out who is leaving comments on your blog.
